The belief we share that the needs of our community are of the utmost importance has been validated by a strong shift in the overall growth
expectations provided for in the survey's and expressed in the reports by staff regarding “The General Plan Update."
To this end, I congratulate all of you who stayed with this long term strategy by The Murrieta First Campaign to provide the leadership which focused on sustainability via an environmentally sound economic development mix with emphasis on greater local control to accomplish it. In 2001, there were no state mandated development codes (like today) accentuating what we had advocated for from the beginning; nor supporting voices for this development concept like we hear today from local area economists, area principals, the media etc...but rather, a close scruntiny of these proposals from various walks during good economic times. We know there was just a single voice with a vision standing on a winning platform that proved itself by adoption. Today, "WE THE PEOPLE," The City Council, and staff are moving forward on a plan for success as these goals and objectives are finely honed into the new reality in the form of an updated General Plan document by this summer.
To our readership (some 4,000 just in Murrieta alone); as I pledged from the beginning, that I would stay with you until such time these goals and objectives had been realized; I submit to you that in fact, the time element required to achieve a full understanding of the intent is here today-fostered in part by an economic downturn-accomplished the goal of a partnership truly based upon a vision of shared values-which I believe is the glue that binds us! Magnanimously, I am proud to call Murrieta my home.
I, David F. Landriscina, Carol, my lovely wife of 36 years, son's: Joseph and Thomas, and if I may speak for my grandchildren, wish all of you a healthy and prosperous future!
